Everclear, Vertical Horizon and Fastball
Everclear is back and better than ever! With a heavier, darker sound, the band released its current album Black Is The New Black in 2015, consisting of songs that play to the true-life stories of the band stemming from lead singer, guitarist, co-founder and songwriter, Art Alexakis. Over the last 25 years, Everclear produced eight strong albums, including Sparkle and Fade (1995), So Much for the Afterglow (1997) and Songs from an American Movie Vol. One: Learning How To Smile (2000), all which reached platinum in sales.
Vertical Horizon joins Everclear, with its original lead singer and songwriter, Matt Scannell. Vertical Horizon launched their first three albums independently before signing with RCA Records in 1998. In 1999 they gained national attention with the release of their breakout album, Everything You Want, which sold more than 2 million copies. The title track “Everything You Want” hit #1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 and Adult Top 40 charts, and became Billboard’s Most Played Single of 2000. The band split for a few years in the early 2000s to focus on individual careers, yet Scannell continued to write hit songs such as “Wish You Were Here” (2010) for the band Hey Monday, and co-wrote “Come Back Home” (2012) with Daniel Pewter, which NBC used to promote its hit show Chicago Fire.
Jumping onto the music scene in the late 1990s, Fastball, a trio out of Austin, Texas, hit the charts alongside bands such as Cracker, The Wallflowers and The Jayhawks, just to name a few, with their breakout album All The Pain Money Can Buy (1998). With hit songs on the album such as “The Way,” “Out Of My Head” and “Fire Escape,” in a short six months the album reached platinum and launched a worldwide tour. Into the 2000s, Fastball continued to release successful albums including The Harsh Light of Day (2000), Painting the Corners: The Best of Fastball (2002), Keep Your Wig On (2004), and Little White Lies (2009).
