Known worldwide for his outrageously funny views on life, Lewis Black has been speaking his mind to audiences for more than 30 years. Black hit the comedic main scene in 1996 when he was asked to put together a segment for Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show,” where he would rant for three minutes on anything that was bothering him at that time. This segment, later named Back on Black, catapulted his career and remains the longest-standing segment on “The Daily Show.” From this segment, Black signed a record deal with Stand Up! Records and released his first album “The White Album” in 2000. Black went on to release eight more albums including “Luther Burbank Performing Arts Center Blues” (2006), “Anticipation” (2009) and “In God We Rust” (2012), in which he received Grammy nominations for each. Black won two Grammy awards for Best Comedy Album for his albums “The Carnegie Hall Performance” (2007) and “Stark Raving Black” (2011).
Black has appeared on numerous shows including “Larry King Live,” “Piers Morgan Tonight,” “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon,” “The Late Show with David Letterman,” and “Late Night with Conan O’Brian.” Aside from his television appearances, Black has also starred on television shows and movies including the ABC mini series “Madoff” where he played Ezra Merkin, and the Academy Award-winning movie Inside Out where he voiced the character “Anger,” alongside Amy Poehler, Mindy Kaling, Bill Maher and Phyllis Smith. Black continues to send audiences into exalting laughter on the absurdities of life with tour dates year-round and multiple sell-out shows.
